Hey guys! I was just wondering how many schools everyone is planning on applying to. I'm always told PT programs are competitive to get into so that makes me want to apply to literally all of them lol. I currently have about 10 schools I'm interested in applying to but will probably bump it down to 5.

Hey! I am applying to 10 through PTCAS and than one without PTCAS. Apply to as many as possible through PTCAS- it is one application anyways. I am married so I am applying to schools in 2 hour radius, since I don't want to move out of state..Unless your stats are outsanding, I am kinda on lower end of things...(((

I am applying to 12 to 15 schools ranging from California all the way to New York. Yes it may suck to fly all over the place, but I really want to get into school and actually think I have a good shot. Thankfully I have Post 9-11 GI Bill to cover most costs for college.

I applied ED to one.

So far, I'm applying to about 14- but I'm sure that'll change as well. I looked up the trend for acceptances versus number of applications and 6+ will give you about a 50% chance of gietting; thus, I'd say at least 6.

I'm only applying to 6 all in California.

I applied to 7.

I'd recommend applying to 5-7 depending on your situation, as low as 1 if you're ED. If you're applying to more than 7 schools you probably need to do a better job finding schools whose selection criteria align with your strengths and you have a realistic shot at getting in at.

I'd say it really depends on your stats (e.g. GPA, LORs, GRE) and situation. I ended up applying to 10 schools last cycle and got a interview/was accepted to 5 of them. Although it may be costly to apply to that many schools, I personally think it's worth it; especially if you are unsure if you are going to be accepted or not. I'd rather put $$$ down and increase my chances of getting in instead of risking it and possibly delaying PT school for another year.

If you don't mind me asking what were your stats and the schools you got accepted to?

I applied to 10 schools and was offered interviews/ accepted to nine. ( I declined several interviews after getting accepted to a good choice). With hindsight, I could have applied to fewer, but am still glad I maximized my chances and gave myself options. I strongly suggest that you diversify the schools you apply to as well, state schools (ususally best price) and private options (ususally easier to get in to ). Best of luck to everyone applying this cycle. It is nervewracking and I strongly suggest you get your application in as early as possible and really work on the essays. I also think making sure you are a good candidate for specific schools is very important. If the GRE is the weakest part of your application, don't choose a school that does its first elimination based solely on grades and GRE. Also make sure you hit all minimums or they simply won't look at your application, regardless if you have the best essay ever. Again, good luck!!!

Going for 16 schools.
I have a low cumulative GPA from my undergrad years. Guess that just means I need to pony up the cost and cast a wide net.

If you don't have the best stats, definitely apply to as many schools as possible. I had a low cGPA and GRE. Sent my application to 10 schools, only got considered by one. I was put on the waitlist after interviews, but was accepted a month prior to the program start date.

If you're really unsure about your chances, I'd say more applications is a good choice so you don't have to risk reapplying during the next cycle!

jtb93- what schools you applied and where are you attending.

Dregaus - what all the schools you are applying to. I am Il resident.

I am applying for the second time. I also have lowcGPA. I am in process of retaking some of the classes that I have B to improve my prereq GPA. Also retaking GRE. I was waitlisted for a long time and got dropped.

I'm currently applying to 6 programs. A lot of factors have to be taken into consideration. But in general, if you don't view yourself as a competitive applicant then cast the net wide and apply to more programs.
