I'm just need some clarification:

They have various "testing windows" each year (does anyone know why they do this?) I'm assuming that I must apply for the testing in the June 10th-July 25th window in order to register to take the exam between Aug 18th-Sept 26th.

https://www.ptcb.org/AM/Template.cfm?Section=Schedule&Template=/CM/HTMLDisplay.cfm&ContentID=2307

I was just wondering if I could register in one testing window (ex June 10th-July 25th), and take the exam in another testing window (ex Nov 10th-Dec 19th).

Another question: Do they absolutely object to you bringing scratch paper and a pencil to work with, instead of a dry erase board?

no you cannot register in one and take it in another...and make sure you read all rules and regulations carefully because they follow them without exception. In my case I signed up to take my test on a Monday and I got (legitimately) violently ill on Sunday/ Monday and therefore I could not take my test...but they require 24 hours notice to re-schedule your test- however they are not open over the weekend...so I had to give up my $125 or whatever it is and sign up during the next testing window (they would under no circumstances even after talking to managers and providing medical documentation let me reschedule)

when you go to the testing facility it seems like you are taking a test for taking a job with the federal government- they finger print you like 10 times, they do not allow you to bring anything in (not even a water bottle without a label) and they provide you with the calculator and you do your work on a dry erase board!! its interesting

That's pretty intense. Thanks for the info.

But another question: Can I register for the PTCE and take it at any location? Or does the registration or application process limit you to a specific testing center?

I'm also interested in taking the test but I'll have to see..in about a month...

There shouldn't be limit to a testing center. You can check online to find the closest center and I'm sure you can choose out of the available ones.

im pretty sure that when I signed up it gave me a list of the testing centers in the area and I had to pick the one that I wanted to go to...so you will know ahead of time.
