Other than tuition costs being different when compared to in-state schools, what is/are the main difference(s) between public and private schools' DPT program?

Public schools tend to be harder to get into because so many people want that lower tuition.

It depends on the private school. Some schools emphasize in manual skills, athletic training, research, or neurological PT. Both private and public will prepare you for the NPTE, which is really all that matters. Like okramango said, the competition for public schools is intense because everyone wants to save $30-40k in tuition. I would count on going to a private school.

Public schools aren't always cheaper, y'all! I was accepted to a private ( U of Evansville) and tuition was ~ 60k for the whole program (they did offer me a scholarship based on my undergrad gpa), and also accepted instate (FIU) with tuition being ~72k. So there's that.

I am about to start the program at Stony Brook. I just tried to figure out how much the whole thing will be and came up with 80k not counting cost of living and other expenses. I am hoping there is a mistake in my calculation. For some reason I thought it was 60k last time i checked.
