Published paper without formal research experience

I published a paper online in my university's open access journal. However, this paper was published through an upper-level biology lab course and wasn't through any formal research opportunity. Do I report this under research?

That is where it gets iffy. It was formally peer reviewed by other students in the class as well as by the professor herself. Also this was an upper level biology lab course.

Is the journal a peer-reviewed journal? Your response seems to indicate that that answer would be no.

This sounds like a class assignment, and not something I would consider research or a publication. That's my opinion. YMMV.

Yeah I understand it is nothing professional and so to answer my own question: no, it doesn't belong in the research section. However, is it still worth mentioning in my PS or something like that?

If the experience was a formative one for you, you can certainly mention it in your PS or secondary essays or interviews. It's up to you what you want to present.

Hey, the OP already stated that she knows it doesn't go under research and I think the OP gets it at this point. If it was a good experience and you think it's worth mentioning then go for it. Best of luck.
