For a medical student interested in research and applying to rad onc: how would a publication in an open access journal appear to residencies?
I've been involved in a research project for the past year or so. During this time, I learned a lot from a wonderful mentor about the details of conducting research, writing, and the peer review process. However, I'm having a hard time getting my manuscript accepted into a general medical journal. I feel that it's somewhat well written, but simply low priority. Would it be better to change the category of journals I am submitting to (to say an epidemiology or nutrition journal), or submit to an open access medical journal?
Thanks!
(P.S. Sorry if this was vague..)
