Hi,

I interviewed end of last year(Oct 2017) and received an email stating that I've been placed on the alternate list.

Is the alternate list different from a waitlait?

Has anyone heard back from Pacific? Accepted? Alternate list ranking? Rejected?

Does anyone know typically how far you can move up from a list/how many students on avg they may accept from the waitlist/alternate list?

2017 entering class size: 91
2016 entering class size: 94
2015 entering class size: 92

Thanks for your input!

still waiting....and waiting some more....i guess...

Applied in September, Interviewed in January and accepted in Feb. Not entirely sure how the waitlist works but I'm on SCCO's alternate list so I bet it's similar.

I think each school is a little bit different, but in general I've noticed waitlist at most schools tends to be when the class isn't filled yet. I've heard they usually list a reason why you didn't get fully accepted but some schools don't. So after the interview you're either accepted, waitlisted, or rejected if there are still seats left.

Alternate list tends to be when the class is full with deposits already, more towards the end of the cycle. They want to accept you if they had a spot, however they instead start a list incase anybody drops their seat. When a spot frees up and you're the next person in line then you're in. This happened to me with SCO after I interviewed a few weeks ago. They ranked the list, and mentioned that you do tend to move up pretty quickly depending on how many people reject spots on the waitlist itself or end up returning deposits for going to other schools. They had a list of around 30, I ended up being in the 10th spot a couple weeks ago moved all the way up the list because a bunch of people rejected their waitlist spots. So it was pretty fast thankfully!
But again, tends to vary by school and how they handle things. Some schools don't rank their list as well, so it can be a bit random.

Also don't hesitate to call and ask, I think usually they are really understanding because they totally get that you need to plan on where you're living and such!
Hope this helps a little.
