I too gave up my spot at PUCO. I was #4 on the waitlist so with the number of applicants dropping their seats, you should be moving up the list!

The school itself did not impress me at all. While Portland and Oregon are beautiful (lots of trees), the campus was small (which was OK) but the optometry building was located in the middle of campus... so you'd be running around with undergrad 18yr olds. That didn't appeal to me!
One of the biggest downfalls of the school is the lack of patients/patient contact. My interview was on Friday; during the campus tour I asked our tour guide if the clinic was typically as busy as it was (there were maybe 3-4 patients, with a total of maybe 10-15 exam rooms) and she told me that it was a busy day for them. While everyone seemed friendly and I would have fallen within the WICHE tuition cut, it really left me disappointed. I couldn't see myself living there or enjoying my educational experience as much as I thought I would before my interview. It was just a let-down for me. But ultimately, the school is a good-fit for a lot of students and they have a pretty decent NBEO Part I score.

Just an FYI, the optometry building at PUCO is not in the middle of campus, and it is not shared with undergrads. The only time I've come across undergrads is when I decide to buy lunches at the school's cafeteria, which is awesome.
The clinic right at the school is not typically busy in the summer, but the other clinics associated with the school (there are 5 total), particularly the 2 in Portland itself, stay VERY busy.
