so if you have not heard back from your #1 or #2 school even for a post-dec interview, should you put down the deposit for the schools that accept you (if were interested in attending those schools which accepted you in Dec.) ?????? I am a bit confused on putting down deposits..Can you put a deposit for a school and later tell them you decided not to go???

I know i am jumping the gun with Dec 1st still a couple weeks to go, but I was curious...I hope dont jinx myself and get zero acceptances :xf:

Receiving acceptance on Dec 1 means you have to send your deposit till Jan 15. It should be received or at least postmarked by Jan 15 so you technically do not have 45 days to decide. Most schools will ask for first deposit and later on for second, some schools will ask to send total deposit first time and it could be $ 500-1000-1500- 3000 depending on the school.
Second wave of acceptances goes somewhere Jan 16-20, after first deposits counted. You will have till Feb 15 to decide and so on just interval gets shorter every time... by the spring it could be "make decision on the spot" deal...
You can put your deposit by Jan 15 and still go to interviews later. If you change your mind or will get off waitlist later you will loose your deposit/ I know there is couple of schools that will return you part of it but it is rare/
To be on waitlist you will be asked to put down deposit as well, which usually check not being cleared until you are accepted at the school. If you are not taken off the waitlist you will receive your check back...
