What size of binder do you recommend? 1.5in? 2in? I realize that I'll probably be adding pages of notes as I study, as well as writing in the margins of the FA pages. If you have any other recommendations as to what worked/is working for you please offer suggestions. Thanks.

Yes. 2". Durable expensiver kind made entirely of plastic. Do it.

Don't have a real copy of FA unbound and holepunched. FA paper sucks to write on. Get a paper copy online somehow (I magically got one from a friend of a friend of a friend of a...), and make sure it's not the most recent version of FA (i.e. use '09, not '10, because the errors for '10 won't be fully listed on FA's site until late Spring).

There. And I just saved you ten replies in this thread. 😀

I'm gonna sound like a total n00b, but after 3-hole punching my FA, putting it in a binder, and then studying it....I found there is absolutely NO benefit. I'm pretty sure I must be doing something wrong, but the only positive aspect to the whole thing for me was that I could take a section of the book out of the binder to study instead of having to carry the whole of FA around.

I use a 2" binder btw, and it works nicely.

I heard the benefit to doing this is to add stuff to it while keeping it organized. Such as your school's pharm charts. One of my good friends has done this and it seems to keep it organized well.

Some people had it rebound into the spiral format because it opens easier than the current FA bounding. Either way you bind it, information is the same. Just be careful not to dilute the content by adding too much extraneous stuff.

I prefer the paper hat method. Make one out of each page of FA and wear it for a few minutes to get the information by osmosis. Much better than the under-the-pillow technique.

Though a 2+ inch binder would work, especially if you wanna throw in some extra pages of hand-written notes or high-yield print outs.
