Hello,

I'm considering adding my study of philosophy and theology to my "hobbies and interests" section, also adding on bible study and possibly church attendance.

This is a significant interest of mine; I've gone through self-study style coursework and online lectures in philosophy and theology using textbooks at the seminary level.

Would this be ill-advised to put on my application, in case an admissions member is a militant atheist or similarly against religion?

edit:

this thread seemed to feel religious experience is fine:

Curious of your thoughts though

Absolutely include it. I did and it became a pleasant talking point in several of my interviews. Being religious is not a mark of stupidity or ignorance, though I understand that others disagree.

I wouldn't. Obviously adcoms shouldn't be that way, but they're just humans, and prone to the same prejudices other people are. Plus I've seen enough anti-religious people in medicine to know that some people would be against it.

Significant religious experiences and religiously affialated activities should absolutely be included.
As long as you have more than "I went to church every Sunday" you should include it.

I am confused as to why you would put hours in service however. I would count volunteer hours, organizations and leadership or service opportunities but how did you plan to report hours in church?

i indicated i had some activities related to religion, but didn't use religious jargon

I would suggest not using over-zealous language if you are religious, etc. "I was appointed by God to embrace the world" or something stupid like that

But since it seems like you're studying philosophy/religion that would be a fantastic thing to put down

Perfectly fine EC!!!
