quick question, i have seen some people in my hospital get TTEs for evaluation of things like ventricular bigimeny on EKG when the surgical services will consult us. is this overkill? and a lot of these patients are younger patients with no PMH

This just kills me and usually the attendings have no good explanations except oh let's just get it to make sure there is no obvious RMVA/DCM/fill in the blank ...
