I am only looking for an estimation ..

for example R=square root(2400squared + 3200squared)

how do i solve something like this on the mcat?

2400 is 100 * 24
3200 is 100 * 32

hmm, 24 is 8*3 and 32 is 8*4

so this is really a 3/4/5 triangle:

(800*3)squared + (800*4)squared = (800*5)squared

Answer: 800 * 5 = 4,000
