hi guys...
I am a PGY2 in ObGyn applying for CA1 next year.
I already got letters from my program director and the head of the ObGyn department as well as one of my teaching attendings. Now obviously it would be nice to have a letter from one of the anesthesia guys but I feel they won't be able to write a "great" letter, simply because they have not worked with me as often as the other people I mentioned. How vital is to get a letter from anesthesia?
Thanks!

I don't think there is a standard answer for your question.

Letters can help immensely but I imagine that people in your situation often lack them for the same reason you have mentioned.

Just be able to clearly articulate how your exposure to anesthesiology lead you to switch fields.

Hang a little bit more with your OB anesthesiology attendings. Perhaps with some more personal interaction you could swing a letter with a little more meat. At the very least this strategy should give you more fodder for interview season.

hello everyone. after applying to programs, can you subsequently have more LOR's sent even if you did not wish for those letters to be sent when you first applied to the programs?
