Q. Treatment of acute mastitis is to continue breast feeding from the affected breast.Yes, it may be good for mother but when the baby sucks all the purulent nipple discharge infected with staph. aureus, won't the baby be infected by the microbes/staph aureus? What type of treatment is this- good for the one and doing harm to another???

Usually, you want to have the mom use devices for milk extraction, then feed the baby milk. I'm assuming that just reduces the chance of infection to the baby. I'm not a mom, nor a female, so I can't say I've had a first hand experience.
However, Sattar says continue breast-feeding. So that's what I'm putting for the answer if it comes up!

Yup!I am also not a mom nor a female.Lol!!!So, I am going to do the same. Now, don't want to worry much about it.

A home remedy is usually massaging the affected breast with warm water and breastfeeding too. I guess all the staph is good for babies immunity ..lol
