Fo the diagnosis of valvular heart disease,"TTE is the best best initial test, TEE is more accurate then TTE and Catheterization is the most accurate one". Can anyone explain this pls. why it is considered so.Thanks.
TTE : cheap, easily available, no side effect, based on visual estimations therefore less precise
TEE: less easy to organise, require sedation, rare complications, also based on visual estimations but less artefact and better visualisation
Cath: expensive, invasive, contrast toxicity + irradiation if ventriculogram done at the same time... but gold standard because precise mesurement (you directly mesure pressure)
