Hey,

I am retaking my MCATs this Aug. I have my AMCAS completed, transcripts sent, and the only thing left for me is to click "Submit". Considering that my previous MCAT wasn't great, I do not want to not receive secondaries from those schools that send them out after screening. When should I click Submit on AMCAS? Disgarding any mishaps, I do not see AMCAS taking more than two weeks to give me a "Verified status". Should I submit now, right before Sept 12 (when results come out), or after Sept 12?

Also, approximately how long after submitting your secondary are you likely to hear back from the school of either an interview or a rejection? If not an exact time, a time frame will do if you know or have experienced.

Please donate few seconds to advise,

Thank you.

I would submit now, to at least one school (and add more after you get your score), just so that you're verified and ready to go the day that your score comes out. Better yet, if you can look up which schools don't screen that you're interested in, I'd check those off on your primary now and submit, so that you can get started and submit all of those secondaries before your score comes out. Anyway, if you indicate on your primary that you'll be taking an August MCAT, won't the med schools keep that in mind? I.e., wouldn't the ones that screen simply put you on hold until you take the August MCAT and have your new score released? Otherwise, what's the point of that question on the primary?

AMCAS: NOW! Poster above has good advice: submit to at least one school so you can get verified (which can take awhile, longer as time goes on). You can always add others later on without the need for re-verification.
Secondaries: as they come in, but try not to be later than then end of August if you can help it. The costs add up, and you might decide to not send some in for various reasons.
