Hi all,
I'm in a Psy.D. program and am looking to apply for an APA internship for APPIC 2020. I know this is likely a difficult question to answer exactly, but how many intervention and assessment hours would make me competitive in order to be matched? My program is pretty short, only two years of practicum, a third year school internship (we are a Clinical/School combined program) and then our fourth year internship, which I am aiming for an APA internship.
My other question, since I haven't completed applications yet, is when the sites state the minimum number of intervention and assessment hours they require, is that at the time of application, or with the additional number of hours of intervention and assessment I will be getting in my third year, while I am going through the process?
Thanks for your help, please let me know if there is any other information you need to best assist me.
Would you be supervised by a licensed psychologist at the school internship?Thank you, this is really helpful!
I'm at a neuropsych practicum right now, so I anticipate being close to 200 hours of assessment by August of this year. My intervention hours will be closer to 400. Both of those numbers are before my third year internship in a school which is part of our program...would those hours (whether they have been logged or estimated) count toward the 500 a site would be looking for? Because I'll be working as a school psych intern for a year before I am at the APA internship I hope to have.

Okay thank you! One other question: I know a poster above said this happened to her but do programs regularly bring people in for interviews that are a small amount short of the posted minimum hours in the APPIC application? Is it a good idea to apply to programs I'm interested in even if I don't meet the hours requirement exactly?
