I have read on here that a lot of people think qbank is very good for the INFO you get, no so much that it mimics the way the actual USMLE would be. For those of you who HAVE already taken Step 1, do you think it would be advisable to maybe do qbank during my classes and annotate FA while doing that, so doing it subject based instead of random. Then maybe once I get through that, I can go through something like usmleworld when I'm actually studying? I know tht might be overkill on ?s but I learn so much better by questions because it's so active versus just reading passively. Thanks!!!!!!

QBank is a great "supplement" to your board preparation. I don't believe it should be used as a source to learn information during your course work. Although it does help you learn, I would hold off using it until you start your board prep. The reason people say it is a good source of info is because it helps fill in gaps. Every possible question is not covered in First Aid or other review books. When you see a question on Qbank that has something that you have never heard of, you are more likely to remember it because it is different. That's why it is important to read the answer explanations thoroughly- to make it stick!

BJ then do you think it would be advisable to do qbank subject based as i'm reviewing subjects when it comes time to prep for boards? or just randoM?

are you doing USMLERX?Is it better than Kaplan Qbank?what are the pros and cons?Is Kaplan Qbook better than Qbank?

Surprisedgirl, I would recommend that you do QBank random. Definitely focus on pathology. That is where you will earn most of your points!

No point in doing QBank by subject. Randomized blocks of 50 questions on a computer are a precious commodity (Although with the birth of USMLERx and usmleworld there are probably more of these questions available than anyone should consider doing).

If that's what you want to do, get QBook, which is organized by subject, and costs less per question.

i am using q bank and feeling less and less like it. i do not think the real exam will ask the things they do
can anyone who has sit the exam tell about the real step 1, i just want to know the questions in q bank really cover the real step questions.
i feel q bank put a lot of emphasis on some limited points and i doubt the real exam will be like that.
