Someone tell me what you think...

At a convention 1000 Delegates are from the east coast. One hundred delegates are women; 60 of the women are not from the east coast. How many male delegates are from the east coast?

A-900
B-850
C-800
D-960
E-940

I get…
1000 delegates form east coast
900 males form east coast

100 women delegates
40 of which are from east coast
60 are from some places else.

The answer is listed as D (960). What am I missing… or is it a mistake?

You're missing that 1000 delegates is not the total number of delegates at the convention. You can't just subtract 100 from 1000 to get males. Think about it...

1000 total from east coast -
40 women from east coast =
960 men from east coast.

oops ! you're right. I misread the question too  For a moment, I thought we have some bi-genders amongst the delegates.

1000 total delegates are from the East Coast. 100 women are in the convention, 40 of which are from the East Coast (100-60). So, 1000 (total delegates) - 40 women from East Coast = 960 males from East Coast

excessive flossing isnt good.

MORE IMPORTANTLY.. WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH A DAT FROM 1981???

Well, it's just excessive to other people. I don't think it's excessive because I need it.

As far as the question, I would also like to know. Although, I guess basic math hasn't really changed since 1981. 🙂

If there are 1000 delegates and 100 are women.... That HAS to mean there are only 900 men. Where the women are from is trivial.

1000 delegates are from East Coast, not the total amount at the convention....the 100 women are the total amount of women at the convention, 60 are not from the East Coast...so 100 women - 60 not from East Coast = 40 From East Coast...

Now you have 1000 total from East Coast - 40 women = 960 males

haha, that's a funny question. I also thought that there are total of 1000 people and they r 100 women and 900men, but hm...it was fun and tricky question. 😀.

More question plz~ so i can learn too 😀
