Both work. I did a test drive at my testing center and there is a sqrt function and the num pad works. The calculator is actually pretty nice and fast.

I've heard from everyone else that it lags. Any previous takers willing to chime in?

Just a suggestion..might be worth it to do a test drive at your actual testing center, not all testing centers are the same. While at the test center you can get all your questions answered and actually take a mock test on the computer(not a DAT test). You can work with the calculator, the mouse, see the computer screen, etc.

By taking a test drive it often relieves anxiety that you might experience on test day.

My calculator didn't lag. However, the numpad didn't work. You can test it out during the 15 minute tutorial. This stuff varies by test center. Assume the worst (lagging and no numpad) and then hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised.

Does the calculator on the real DAT look exactly like the one shown in the Prometric Tutorial?

It's really fast. During practice tests, my laptop calculator was so slow and I would have to use my trackpad, so I tried to do most problems but during the real test I used the mouse provided and did every problem using the calculator. It made a huge difference in my scores. The calculator is super clutch.

It probably varies across each test center. But my calculator was exactly like one of the older windows XP calculators (just google it). No lag, and number pad worked.

Thanks for the info! The less unexpected the better
