I woke up this morning and was heading to the kitchen in the dorms to make coffee when I noticed that someone had slipped a sheet under my door. This is common and is usually either takeaway menus or advertisements from nightclubs. Usually I don't even read them and just sweep them away. This particular sheet was black, so it piqued my curiosity. As I bent down to pick it up, I realized what it was - an XRAY film. To my untrained eye, it looks like a mammography showing a mass. I can't be sure since I haven't actually seen one before. The question is, what should I do, if anything? There is no identifying writing on it.

Is this a med school dorm or something? Does the X-ray have the institution stamped somewhere on it where it was done? I would return it there.

Did your professor give you a mammogram which you weren't aware of and slipped you the results? Kudos to them for innovative, integrated teaching, but I would have attached a note saying it was yours out of clarity.

If you post a photo of,it, we can tell you what it is but without identifying information on it, there's nothing you can (or should) do.

Sorry for the potato picture, I took it with the film held against my monitor.

Yes, it's a school dorm. Nothing other than RT cc.

I'm male, so I hope not.
This is an initiation ritual invitation. Unfortunately, no one will ever discuss it with you openly, so if you don't already know what to do, then you're SOL.
I'm not a resident. Our initiations are a lot more juvenile.

Men get mammograms all the time.

I'm not sure what being a resident has to do with anything.

The ceremony will be some time tonight. I would spend the remaining daylight hours figuring out where you're supposed to be after sundown. There would have been other clues.

I was initially worried because I thought this might be someone's way of communicating their need to talk to me, but in retrospect, I know no one that melodramatic.

I know it's not an initiation because 1) I'm not that interesting, and 2) I know when I'm being wound up.

My mum leaked my step score, so it might have to do something with that, but it really seems unlikely.

It's just a curiously morbid thing to do to someone, especially on Sunday.

As noted above, this *is* a mammogram but of a female, in the CC projection. The "mass" is the typical denser retro areolar tissue however without prior images, lateral views and the contra lateral view, you can't comment on whether or not there is clearly an abnormality.

So not sure why you have this under your door unless someone found it in the hallway outside your door and assumed you had dropped it.

Thank you. That's a relief.

I thought the shape was more characteristic for a female breast rather than gynecomastia. I wish the bit about the handle were true. Anyway, /thread.

I'm joking about that being a male breast, but for educational purposes: being fat and having breasts (as a man) =/= gynecomastia.
Although the increased estrogen makes it more likely, no? Along with the potential cirrhosis if you're alcoholic/have nash as well.
