Working through problems (that I think are applicable) and having some difficulty with this one. Can you help? Also is this within scope.

An electron of the hydrogen atom makes a transition from the n= 5 level to the n = 2 level. The Rydberg constant is1.097 x 107/m.

a. What is the wavelength ofthe photon emitted?
b. What is the change in energy ofthe electron after this emission?
 
Thanks... I posted the wrong question. It asked what is the energy going from one level to the next. I guess you just use the equation below, solve for wavelength and then use E=hc/lambda to get energy.


1/lambda = R(1/n1^2 - 1/n2^2)

I could see a question like this popping up in a passage, but they'd almost certainly give you the relevant formula(s).
