To those of you who have done both quarter and semester systems, which do you like better and why?

I have only done semesters in my academic career, but the school I checked out yesterday is quarter system. I'm wondering how easy that transition would be. Personally, I feel like semesters drag on forever.

I've experienced both. For me, it's not such a big difference. For the school year, both systems have 30 weeks of instruction.

The only thing I find irritating with the quarter system is meeting the requirements for pharmacy schools.

For example, many schools require one semester (or two quarters) of calculus. For those in the quarter system, you actually have to take more weeks of the class since two quarters = 20 weeks and 1 semester is 15 weeks.

When I was in my late teens to early 20s, I was in a school in the quarter system. Now, in my 30s, I'm in a school in the semester system and it seems to go by quickly. But maybe it's because of old age. It seems that time goes by more quickly when you're older.

I'm on quarters now and I thought it was just wrong at first, but now I like it. I don't have time to get bored with the class, and I feel like I am accomplishing more.

QUARTERS all the way! You get done faster and classes aren't as long and drawn out which doesn't allow the boredom to set in.
