can anyone who has gone through the application process the approximate timeline they followed.
what is the first day you can start working on your application on the web?
what is the 1st day that you can send transcripts to the application service?
when did you send in your letters of rec from science teachers and the such?
when did you recieve your april mcat scores? and from how long then was it till you got everything coompleted?
after everything was completed, how long did it take for you to recieve secondaries?
for anyone that applied after the august mcat, when did you recieve your scores? and when did you get your application in?
for august mcat'ers, when did you start recieving secondaries?
for august mcat'ers, do you feel that it was a HUGE disadvantage to get ur applications in late?
any answers are appreciated??
anyone like to share any stats or inspiring appplication stories are welcome 🙂

I can try....

what is the first day you can start working on your application on the web?

I started in June, had it completed by june 17th.

what is the 1st day that you can send transcripts to the application service?

I sent them also on June 17th.

when did you send in your letters of rec from science teachers and the such?

I got my letters MONTHS before I started to fill out the ACCOMAS/AMCAS web stuff. You send them in once you get a secondary application and your past the first screening.

when did you recieve your april mcat scores? and from how long then was it till you got everything coompleted?

June 17th...it was ready to go. I had my application essays written in April and May so I was just ready to plug and chug. I was complete (for the primarys at the schools) the first 2 weeks of july.

after everything was completed, how long did it take for you to recieve secondaries?

They came in a HUGE wave all in august....for one or two schools (allopathic) I recieved secondaries in November and my own school UT just last month. (SEVEN MONTHS LATER!)

for anyone that applied after the august mcat, when did you recieve your scores?

Didn't do august sorry.

for august mcat'ers, when did you start recieving secondaries?

Again I didn't do august. My secondaries were completed in August/September and I got invites in late september all the way though now. Most of my interviews were in October and early November though. Hope that helped.

Robz,

Have you heard or even used a service called "interfolio" or www.interfolio.com? It is a letter-of-recommendation collecting service. I don't know if I can trust it or not.

Yes I have heard of it. I have not used it as my school (University of Tennessee) has a letter collection service. Even though it wasn't the best, as they lost letters and packets of mine, it was free. I suggest you use your school's service first.

Of course there are schools that do not have this. Quite a few people here on SDN use the ReferenceNow.com/Interfolio.com services. It's easy, but you do have to pay for its use and for each school. You get reference writers to send their letters to interfolio, and then you can ask interfolio to send them to any school that needs them.

Here is a quote from someone that used it before.

Interfolio bought ReferenceNow a while back.

I applied to 22 schools (15 MD, 7 DO), and 21 accepted them without comment. KCOM was the ONLY school that did not accept my letters from ReferenceNow.

At one point, Georgia Tech outsourced its undergraduate LOR services to ReferenceNow, but I don't know if that's still true.

Does that help?

Just a warning:
I asked one of my old professors to write a letter of rec fom me in September and he did'nt get it in until late January. Although my secondary (including all my other letters of rec) was in by Oct 1st, they would not review my application until they received his letter. I think it really hurt my application. I would recommend you get all your letters of rec turned in WAY in advance!!! Good luck
