Sir, do all the programs send a rejection e.mail if they do not call an applicant for an interview?

Secondly, how much important a role does an excellent MSPE(Dean's Letter) play in getting an interview invitation to an IMG ?

Sir,please reply.

Thanks

I am not aPrgoDirector, but from what I gather not all programmes send you a rejection email if you are not invited for an interview.

BTW, I did not know aProgDirector has been knighted recently...😉

BTW, this is not UK.

BTW, failure to recognise good-natured gentle teasing despite the obvious use of appropriate smileys may be indicative of lack of sense of humour.

You are welcome, btw.

So sorry,

Mine was just humour as well.

Thanks

Many programs will not send a rejection email...the lack of an interview invite via email is the only indication.

As I have often said, I am still waiting to hear from some programs I applied to nearly 9 years ago. So no, programs do not always send a rejection letter or email.

You know, if I were you I would have given them a call...

I doubt there is anything that "all" programs do. Many will let you know about a rejection. If you hear nothing by mid Nov, then you should definitely contact them. Certainly can't hurt.

IMHO, MSPE's for IMG's are useless. I care more about US clinical experience and a letter describing it. However, other pure IMG programs may put more weight on the MSPE, and may not require US clinical experience.

ERAS makes it easy to e-mail mass rejections. If they don't at least e-mail you they are just lazy or don't know how to use ERAS or both.

I also didn't hear from a bunch of programs (about 4 years ago)...still waiting... 🙁

Here's the match as I remember it,

Not all programs send rejections letters.

MSPE's for IMG's...well, that's variable. In the program I'm in, I had a converstaion with one of the associate PD's the other day who was going through applications...she didn't know exactly what to do with IMG applciations. The most important thing she felt was to assess the medical school itself. How does she find out if the school is good or not?

Judging by the conversation we had (yes, this is my opinion) it seems that in terms of the MSPE, I wouldn't weigh too much on it unless it said something really BAD. Perhaps, something REALLY GOOD may give a plus point.

Overall, when it comes to IMG's, USMLE scores and LoR's from US MD's at recognized teaching institutions would count a lot more than MSPE's.

hope that helps. But please note, this is based on a convo I had with someone who was trying to the grapple with the same question you have...just that she's on the other side of the table.

Fellowship programs do not always send a rejection email either. After I got out into practice I received a letter inviting me to interview for a fellowship program that I applied to more than 3 years earlier and had never heard back from. I told them that I had completed the fellowship at another institution and was now an attending physician.

It might be easy but they still don't do it. I suspect part of the reason is that they are in some ways hedging their bets that if a bunch of people cancel interviews, they can still send out more invites. But I don't think that's a major consideration. The major factor is probably just that it doesn't matter. While it may be considerate, it doesn't matter. I only really know of one pathology residency program, for example, that routinely sends out rejections.

I hope and pray that the same does not happen with me because I am not now even getting rejections, leave aside IVs.

That's hilarious (if sad that they were going through 3 year old apps...wonder if yours somehow got mixed up with the new ones).

My experience with internal medicine and medicine fellowships is that most programs will send out rejections at some point...the problem is that for some of them it won't be until February or March. If you don't here by December 1st you are generally rejected...for sure if you don't hear by the end of December.
I agree that some programs are not sending out rejections just on the off chance that they might need/want to interview more people. Also, it is inconsiderate but it doesn't matter to them because there will always be more applicants the next year, no matter how they treat the current applicants!
