question 40 on crack the DAT PAT test 3

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This stumped me the first time. The explanation given does indeed fit the question. The yellow cube in the answer covers the third cube from the left, which has three of its sides exposed. In the answer key, from the top pink cube, going to the right, it will go pink. green, green, green. When I came upon this for the first time it gave the illusion of floating cubes and I was like wtf?

I remember that one it tripped me up too. It does fit better if you rotate and tilt the explanation. I don't think we will see one like on the real DAT

Thanks. I rotated the explanation as you said.

Still, I think it is a bad question. hope it will never show up in real DAT

Just keep practicing. I have seen several times when student's said that the cube counting section on their DAT had some illusion/hidden cube problems.

Unfortunately, I got a few illusion cube counting questions on my real DAT exam. But nothing CDP hadn't already exposed me to 👍.

On my DAT I had something similar to an illusion but, not as difficult as the one you have posted to figure out. So, while it's unlikely they DO show up just keep that in mind.
