I noticed in 4th year, most students end up interning at various locations. I think its usually 3 different locations/4 months per location, for a total of 1 year or 12 months.

I was wondering, where does the 4th year tuition amount go towards since most people will not be in school to take classes etc ... I.E. no instructors/profs, as they will be interning at a location that is not there school. It doesn't make sense to pay your school 20K, when you will not be using any of their facilities, instructors, instruments etc.

I was also wondering if students work on per diem basis while in their 4th year, or is that not allowed?

thanks.

You can't work during externs b/c you're doing externs full time. I mean if you want to get a side job on the weekends that's cool, but you cannot get paid at your externs.

I'm guessing the tuition is the same 4th year because the people who do the extern sites are considered adjunct faculty of your school, so techinically you are learning from your school's faculty.

schools need "X" amount of dollars to operate. thats just a fact of life. so technically tuition could become zero for the fourth year, but years 1-3 would skyrocket.

When you go externing at other sites, your school has to pay that site for "teaching" you during that time. So it's not a complete rip-off. 🙂
