Hey, this is my first post and I had a few questions about the AADSAS application. I have never applied yet and am a bit confused. I do not plan on applying for the 2012 cycle (missing pre-reqs, dat) but will be ready by the 2013 cycle, is there a way I can start some of the application of what I have done already before June 2013? For instance I am currently getting a letter of recommendation from a professor, how do I go about not submitting this until the 2013 cycle because they say they do not want letters or transcripts early? any help is greatly appreciated.

You cant start the application. You will just have to wait until June 1st, 2012 to start mailing things in. You can work on your personal statement, make sure all your letters are written, and get the best DAT scores possible.

thank you for the very prompt. One last question on the topic of letter of recommendation, if my Prof is writing it now (technically around 2 years before I apply) how do I go about saving the letter for the future? I don't want to inconvenience my Prof. and tell her to send it 2 years from now.

I have a friend who applied in the 2011 cycle, but when it was the 2010 cycle, he signed up for AADSAS anyways (because it's free) just to get a feel for what the application was. When June 1st 2010 came around, he was ready to copy and paste his stuff in and submit that day.

I would NOT have a professor write a letter this early, as the letter would include the date. What you should do is establish repoire with this professor and either keep in touch or become a TA for them. However, it is never too early to draft up a personal statement or start planning/studying for the DAT.

I thought it was better to get the letter right after you finished the class so you are still fresh in there mind. The date on the letter is really that significant?
