Lets say you apply on June 4th with ~3.4-3.5 GPA and 18-19s on DAT. If you still opted to retake the DAT later in the year along with doing an academic update (to show a higher GPA) would schools that have already disregarded your application be made aware of this? Or is this something you would have to email the school about to let them know so they could pull it back up?

If you got rejected before the academic time period (mid November), they still won't look at your application even after you submit an academic update. Once you get rejected, you're off the applicant database for that particular school.

As I understand it, it's up to each school to handle it however they want. Some will review your file only once. Some might review it again. Some might let you put your file on hold until new numbers arrive while others won't. It's up to you to communicate with your schools, especially if you're going to retake several months into the cycle. They really have no way of knowing you're retaking. You used to be able to indicate a retake in AADSAS, but that option is gone.

so pretty much- we have to contact every school we're applying to?
seems to be the case, no big deal though just make an email and send it to every school you applied...call the ones that don't respond, i'm not sure why they wouldn't pull your file back up if you DAT scores are better along with an improved GPA
