Ok, so I have heard that SGU and Ross only give you a week to accept. If this is true, and you accept (just in case, you never know), and you get accepted somewhere else that you want to go, do you just take back your acceptance and lose your deposit, or can you get the deposit back? Do you even need to put down a deposit? I don't know about this at all, and I was just wondering...

I received a call from SGU regarding my acceptance about a week and a half prior to the due date of my $400 non-refundable deposit. I can't remember how Ross worked, im pretty sure it was similar when I applied 2 yrs ago. As far as I know any deposit you put down to reserve a seat at any school will be non-refundable. I suggest that you speak with an admissions representative from each school prior to applying.

I never thought of having to put a deposit on my seat!!!😱 What if you will be going through strictly on financial aid?

OK, so the reason I never thought about it is the school I applied to doesn't require one! <SO relieved!>

I have no idea about financial aid, but I think the deposits only range from $500-$1500, so while it would suck to lose that, its not like you are losing $30,000.

I would check with the financial aid department or the admissions department but I'm pretty sure that the deposit is an out of pocket expense.

You can't really expect to be able to begin with $0.00 and be okay, you know? Financial aid disbursements often aren't until right at the beginning of the quarter/semester anyway and at the very least you will need to like, find somewhere to live before then and move and buy some supplies and books and whatever else. 😉

What school doesn't require a seat deposit out of curiosity? To the OP, Ross gives you 2 weeks to accept. If you do, it is a $500 seat deposit I believe.

csu doesn't require a deposit, though it was kind of unsettling to not have to give them anything....i was worried i would move all the way out here only to have them say "whoops sorry you didn't save your spot so it's gone" 😛

that would make me really nervous too! I guess it'd be the one time that I would prefer to fork over a ton of money to a school

Tennessee doesn't require a deposit either.

Nope, they don't, which is why I never even thought about it until I saw this thread.😀 I've been socking away $$ to buy the books I need (or want), and all of the little things that will pop up before F.A. kicks in and I went into panic mode for just a bit when I thought about a deposit. I live only 30 minutes away from UTK so no expense there, but I have paid for EVERY bit of my school so far out of pocket so, needless to say $$ will be tight until I get a school loan.

Wisconsin also doesn't have a deposit.
