question about accreditation

so my boss (pretty much the greatest doctor i know) was very excited that i got into davis, but he told me that before i decided between davis and illinois, i should check out davis' limited accreditation before i choose to go there. anyone else have any information on when they will get their full accreditation??? any opinions on which school i should choose???

I believe Davis has been restored to full accreditation. It was just their buildings that were out of date. If they're not yet fully restored, it should be coming shortly. I would definitely not let that affect your choice.
 
They got their full accreditaton back in 2004, according to the AVMA website:

I actually asked about the whole accredation thing during my interview. They assured me that they were once again fully accredited and that they don't think their reputation was affected too much - although they regret missing out on rankings in the US News and World Report. They told me that the accredation thing was initially a ploy to get new buildings (which are supposed to be done by fall) and that it somewhat backfired.

I thought that was kind of a strange answer (I asked about whether they thought loss of accredation affected their reputation and what they were doing to improve things. Or something along those lines), but I'm partial to Davis anyway.
 
Limited accreditation is almost always used to try to get more money from the state. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
