So I am currently a senior and will start at PCOM in the fall. I am currently taking Human Anatomy (course catalog title); however, it is very clear to me and the rest of the class that it is comparative anatomy with the following layout:

Lecture: We learn no anatomy--just learn where certain structures came from (today we did the jaw). 3 tests and daily quizzes

Lab: We just sit in the lab with models and teach ourselves the anatomy. Weekly quiz worth a significant amount of points and 3 lab practicals.

I had lab today and realized we are expected to know the skull, face, spinal column and ribs by Monday for the quiz. I understand that anatomy is way more in-depth in med school (although i know this is more in-depth than many undergrad courses) but is it worth taking essentially two separate classes that will take up so much time and make me so pissed in my final semester? I can switch to virology if i want but i am trying to see if this anatomy would greatly benefit me for anatomy in the fall.

Thanks

I'd prob just take the easier classes, your gunna most likely forget most of anatomy anyway I alrdy have and its been like a month - plus senior year is amazing no need to kill yourself I took 12 credits of joke classes and drank myself numb every night 👍

I'd take the virology class! But that's just my personal interest. Most people here say there isn't much you can do to prepare yourself for the workload you'll encounter in first semester. I never took anatomy in undergrad so I can't comment on that. My classmates that did said that it helped them with some of the vocabulary, but all in all, med school anatomy was a completely different beast to them. So my advice to you is: take whatever classes you find interesting. Don't worry about having the edge when med school starts, just enjoy your lighter workload for the time being and make it as enjoyable as possible.
