Hello everyone I needed some advice on my matter and could greatly use your help.

I am submitting my AACOMAS application today and hoping to be verified as soon as can be.
I have a Masters Degree in Medial Sciences and just graduated this past may with a 3.3 gpa.
I have good shadowing and LORs to go with my application.

My dilemma is this: I do not have suitable time to prepare for the MCAT on september 12 (last date) and only have a high of a 22. I would like to take it in January 2014 but am not sure how that will affect my application since it is now submitted but with a pending MCAT date in January. Is it possible to do well in January (27+ score) and still be admitted for this cycle?

Any help would be greatly appreciated please let me know.

By January, that's getting too late in the cycle. Strongly suggest that you simply skip this cycle and start strong in June.

Hey everyone - I am looking for some opinions on something I have been struggling with lately.

I had a meeting with an admissions dean of the MD school my parent's went to last week. We discussed my application and what I can do to give my chance the best shot of getting into this school. My MCAT is a 27 and the dean told me that that really wouldn't work if I wanted to be accepted to their school. He suggested that I study from now until January and take the January MCAT with the plan to reapply in next year's cycle. If I didn't take the MCAT again, he said that he was fairly confident I would get into a DO school and should then just stick with the DO route.

I have already submitted applications to 10 DO schools and 3 MD schools for this cycle. I am definitely interested and open to both MD and DO philosophies and am really torn on whether to take the MCAT again and go for the MD schools, or to ride out the current application cycle and (hopefully!) go to a DO school. Since I am really torn between this decision to stick with the DOs this cycle or go to MDs next cycle - I was wondering what would happen if I continued with this cycle but still took the MCAT in January? Would this put all of my DO applications on hold until they receive that new score next year?

I am already complete at three schools and have invested a decent amount of money in this cycle so I am hesitant on giving up on it altogether when there are some DO schools that I would happily attend on the list...

Also - would my LORs from this cycle still be good for next cycle??

my cGPA is a 3.75, sGPA 3.65 if it makes a difference!
Thanks!

Assuming good ecs you are an awesome do applicant. If I was you I would go do. At the end of the day you will be a doctor. Not only that but I personsally think the philosophy is awesome. You're not likely to find success at md unless you are a urm.

i recently heard someone mention that jan 2015 is still the old mcat and the updated one will start later in the spring. can anyone confirm this? a friend of mine wants to push his sept date but wants to avoid the new mcat.

Yep, January 2015 is the last date for the old MCAT
