Ethical Question:

I know the instructions for amcas say that i'm suppose to disclose all classes that i have taken at all colleges, but I took a class at a community college once and I got a C in the class. I never transferred the class to my university or took any other classes there. Do you think there is any way that amcas could find out that I took a class at this community college, and if so could I get into some trouble for not disclosing this class?

What do you guys think?

Personally, I dont know...but i would assume that if you did not transfer the course, credit, or grade towards your degree then you shouldn't need forward a transcript to AMCAS. But to be honest, I don't know about this situation.

I believe you have to do this; it says any courses taken from any undergraduate institution. Here's what the Help section says:

List every post-secondary institution where you were enrolled for at least one course, even if credits have been transferred, no credits were earned, or you withdrew.

No I understand their instructions, but how would they know if I took a course there?

Keep in mind that if the school to which you are applying finds out that you falsified your AMCAS application (and that is what you are doing, falsifying your application) that your application will be tossed -- or if you've been offered admission -- that admission offer could be revoked!

Do you want to take a chance?

Honestly, it's your risk to take. I took an English class at a nearby state school during undergrad, and I would have preferred to leave it out of my gpa calculations. Even though it isn't likely that I would get caught, I would rather have a lower cumulative gpa than risk getting busted (though unlikely it is still a possibility) and subsequently thrown out of medical school.

Think of it as your first test of ethics if it helps.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think i'm just going to put this grade on my amcas application.
