They are getting increasingly dismal.
The number of US medical schools and students has blossomed over the last several years, but the number of residency positions has remained stagnant since the 1990s. Thus, students educated outside of the US will be at a disadvantage as there are fewer and fewer positions left over after the US educated medical students have first choice in almost all cases.
Whether this will change in 5 or 6 years remains to be seen, but IMHO you are making a huge mistake going abroad without even trying to get into a US medical school first.
