question about the couple's match:

Do you have to indicate initially when you submit your ERAS that you are doing the couples match? i'm applying to rads and am a decent candidate and she is applying to IM is probably an average canddiate.

so in other words can we just apply to our respective specialties without mentioning the couples match to anyone, and then when we have to rank in NRMP, can we couples rank?

how does this work? Would appreciate it!

Which is better: average or decent?

I don't know the answer to your question, just wondering about your descriptions.

To my knowledge, you indicate that within the ERAS system before ranking

No, you're under no obligation to indicate that you're couples matching in ERAS. You just do it accordingly for the NRMP.

I concur. It's completely up to you whether you want to volunteer the fact that you're part of a couple in ERAS. When you submit your ROL via NRMP is when it technically counts.
