how many questions and what time are for each section?

I do not know because every study material i use gives me a different time

oh, and also, what are people's strat for the PAT portion?

I just took a practice test for crack DAT and it was INSANE (i think)

60 minutes for 90 problems? I only got to around 70 and the time expired. I still went on to finish it and got a 20 for my first try

but counting in the time factor, i would've probably scored much lower

is the real DAT that pressing for time? because i would get owned -_-

teach me 🙂

yes PAT is 60 min
you just gotta keep practicing and youll get faster
i too ran out of time my first couple tries and got like 17s
but i jus took my most recent and got a 24

use the search function and there are many posts about angle ranking, hole punching.. (i suggest the wicked PAT tutorial by sama)

goodluck

Just keep practicing with your PAT you will get faster. It sounds like you know each section it takes practice. My strategy: Once you can do well with the 60 minute time limit use the feature CDP gives you and start lowering the time to help improve speed and accuracy while going fast. About 2 months ago when I was practicing with CDP I would get 23-24. I stopped practicing except for topscore and achiever tests once a week. I just took another CDP today and cut my time down to 48 minutes and scored a 22. It makes it alot easier though once you get your full 60 minutes on the real deal. Just what I do though!

so the real thing is also 90 questions? oh god

I felt same the first time I did CDP but then after more and more practice, you will be able to practice more...I say practice each part of PAT per day until you take the test. So if you spend 30 min to 1 hour on PAT everyday (i think it's fun lol) and other time on other readings for DAT, I think you will be so good with PAT.

oh also if you come with any trick of yours to solve TFE or Pattern Folding, do write it down because you might forget that trick next time you do it.

like everyone else has said, practice is key. For me I practiced one section again and again until i was comfortable with my strategy, then moved on to a different section, then moved on to taking practice tests after I was familiar with all of the different sections. And 60 minutes is more than enough time after you've practiced PAT for a while. I usually end somewhere between 10-15 minutes early and my CDP scores range from 23-29 each time.

yes, you'd be surprised how much you can improve from practicing on CDP. i started with scores around 17-18, and by the end i was scoring 24's. i practiced every section individually and untimed to figure out the best strategies for myself. then i started using specific time limits and was, therefore, forced to work faster. for example, in hole punching i first gave myself 15 minutes, then after a few days, whittled it down to 10 minutes. by the end i was able to do that section in less than 10 minutes. for angles, i was able to get it down to 5 minutes, etc.

closer to my test date when i was taking full length exams and doing hour-long PAT tests, i was able to do the entire PAT section with about 10 minutes to spare at the end. this gave me time to go over marked questions. practice practice practice!!!!!

I'm sure you've read it before but angle ranking on the DAT is MUCH harder than what you're practicing with! I swear some of the angles were between 1-3 degrees apart. Best advice is look at the shadows in b/w the angles - more shadow = more acute. Also, if you are lucky enough to get a white noteboard and fine-tip marker (I got a dark-yellow noteboard and fat-tip marker), hold the noteboard up to the computer screen and if there is some transparency, simply trace an angle that confuses you. Then, try to align it with the other angle that confuses you. SHould be able to see a difference. If you're lucky with the board and marker this method can work every time, but if you're unlucky like me, go with your gut.

All the other tricks you learn from CDP, Kaplan, etc. will work on the other sections of the PAT.

Last note - I chose to go with the number listing method on cube-counting instead of the tick mark method. Much faster but if you have time always go back to this section first to make sure you have every cube counted correctly. This is the easiest section to get a perfect score but can also be bombed by simple counting errors so always recheck if you have time.

Good luck!
