Hey guys I'm a pre dental student and trying to get some information about specializing. If I get into dental school as a student, does the specializing program get included within by 4 years of dental school?

Or is it another program where I must apply? If the latter is the case, wouldn't it mean that for a student who wants to specialize, they will most likely spend more than 4 years of schooling?

Thankyou for everyone's help, and I hope you have a great day!

Specializing is extra schooling on top of the 4 years of dental school. Yes, you do have to apply to the specialty residencies during dental school. Specialty residencies are anywhere from 2 to 6 years after dental school, depending on what specialty you are going into. Another thing to keep in mind is that specialty residencies are typically fairly competitive, so you need to do well in dental school to set yourself apart from other students.
