I took the MCAT on May 24 and plan to apply ED to a school. My score wasn't stellar, but it is slightly above the average score for accepted EDP's from previous years. I really want to go to my selected school; however, in the event that I don't get accepted as ED, I signed up to take the MCAT again on Sept 1 to get better chances at other schools.

I have two questions:

1) If I were to apply ED now and NOT put down on AMCAS that I am retaking the MCAT on Sept 1, would AMCAS and schools accept my retake score later on when I get the score?

2) If I indicate on AMCAS that I am retaking the MCAT on Sept 1 and then submit ED to my school, would that school care about the retake score since it is past the ED score deadline?

Thanks for your responses. I tried searching for answers but haven't come across anything.

I believe that if it's past the deadline, they won't consider it in your application; for the same reason that if you were to take the MCAT for the first time after the application deadline, your application wouldn't be reviewed at all. There's a deadline for a reason, knowwhatimean? But to be extra double sure, I would just go ahead and call the school's admissions office for the best information.

That said, though, I personally would not retake the MCAT if you got a 31-32+, but that's just me. Your mileage may vary, of course.

I'll call the school about that to make sure.

If the school doesn't care about the score past the deadline, what if I don't indicate on AMCAS that I am retaking it? Would regular decision schools receive my score? I'm debating whether to put the retake down because I might change my mind on the retake once I submit ED.
