It has become apparent that when I applied through ERAS, I overdid it. I have several interview offers which I don't think I don't want to commit to yet - I would like to wait to see if other, more desirable programs will offer after the Dean's letter goes out. Here's my question: Is it best to send a polite "No thanks" e-mail, a "maybe later, I'll let you know" e-mail, or a "schedule me now" e-mail and cancel later if the more desired program offers an interview? I'm sure I'm not the only one who is in this situation, so if you can share what you guys/gals are doing I would appreciate it.

Im kinda in the same situation. Ive got 11 interviews so far, I didnt expect to have this many at all much less before deans letters came out... Since I reaching a limit of what i can do physcially and finacially I am going to begin to politely decline interviews unless I really want to match there, no more mabeys.

Schedule the ones you are not so hot about for later in the interview time period. Gives you the flexibility to go if you feel you need to but you can also cancel if not. Just give them at least a week's notice so that they can bring in someone else to fill that interview slot. I did that with 5 interviews and ended up taking 2, cancelling the other 3.

Or, you can schedule one of the undesirables early & use it for a practice interview. To minimize expenses, you could opt for a program w/i driving distance that offers a hotel reimbursement. Nothing like the real thing for experience!

Regarding those with multiple interview invitations that they are uncertain of. For the sake of those who have not been so fortunate, I would suggest that you schedule a few of them, the ones you are the most impressed with, and then author a polit & professional decline to the other programs. This will help the programs keep their process from bogging down & allow for other canadidates to obtain interview slots while there are still excellent date/time options for them to choose from. It would be very unfair to eat up a bunch of interview slots that you have intnet upon using or ranking that program.

By being picky & professional, you are keeping your own options open & still leaving your calendar open for those "top 10" interview slots that may still materialize.

Best of luck to you all!
