I have a question about prereq's specifically, for the FIU secondary it says organic chemistry lecture and lab (2 semesters) does that mean you have to have 2 semesters of both lecture and lab? I have taken 2 semesters of lecture and at Indiana Univ. you only need 1 semester of lab to get your BS. Does that mean I don't meant the requirements for FIU? Thanks in advance for your comments!

I am pretty sure most schools wants 2 semesters of lecture w/ lab for orgo. You can *probably* list it as a future class, and if accepted you could *probably* take orgo 2 lab over the summer before you matriculate to satisfy the requirement.

I don't think so. I only took 1 semester as an Undergraduate but the class met 6 times a week, as opposed to the usual 3 hour labs.

I've always read 1 academic year or 2 semesters or 8 hours and nothing about whether the labs are included....

Probably you have to take "the full sequence" be it one semester, one year, etc. I'd contact the school directly. My assumption is that if there are two semesters to take, you should probably have them both before you matriculate (not necessarily before you apply, though).

EDIT: Some schools require a full year of labs, others don't mention whether or not labs are a requirement. It's not a uniform system, I believe.

It is school specific, most of the schools I applied to ( I applied to like 45) mentioned they wanted a year of laboratory work along with the year of pre-req courses, some didn't mention labs though.
