I just finished taking the KAPLAN diagnostics test that they offer before classes officially begin, and quite honestly I think I did okay on the science (bio) part, although I am a bit confused on how to do some of the g-chem equation problems without a calculator, but I'm sure I did terrible on the quantitative reasoning part and PAT. I ran out of time on the PAT and couldn't remember much about math, considering it's been over three years since I've been in a math class. I don't have the score yet, but I think I did terrible. Has anyone else taken this diagnostic test before and received a really low score the first time? And how much did your score improve after the class? Thanks ahead for the replies.

everyone does horrible on the diagnostic, dont worry about it. i got 14-16 on the diag and ended up with a 25 AA so youll be fine. just do all the available practice probs

hey so if i have doing good on my diags in kaplan is that a good sign. i think the only reason i am getting those scores is because i was studying alot where you? oh by the way i got a 19 AA and a 21 Pat on my midterm for the class. how these scores for this far into the course.

-i actually teach the DATs for kaplan

the AA is pretty good, just make sure you keep up the studying. most ppl get a 13-14 for the first diagnostic, and then there is a 1 pt increase for every next test. i agree with j--the best way to improve your score in the end is to do problems and more problems, and kaplan is very good in offering you many tests (make sure you do the online problems as well, as many of them offer full length explanations). HOWEVER, don't be mislead by your high PAT score--i've noticed that most ppl tend to to extremely well on the PAT section of kaplan's test. i'm not sure why--part of the reason might be because it's on paper and not the computer screen, or perhaps kaplan just has easier PAT questions.
