Hey all, got a question about LIU (Long Island University)'s program:

Do you take your CSCS during the program? I know that NYU makes you and a few other schools do.

Thanks!

Interesting. Do you have to pass the CSCS in order to graduate from the program? Why do they require this? This makes me happy that I decided to study for the CSCS before going to PT school

Also, I was accepted into LIU, and I did not remember them mentioning anything about taking the CSCS.

I ask because you have the pass the CSCS when you're in NYU. I mean, I intend to take it regardless. I mean, it would make sense for them to require passing it because it covers a breadth of important topics that you'd have to know anyway. Passing it with a high enough grade would be a good sign of how well you understand the material.

Yeah I'm about 1/3 of the way through the textbook, and a lot of it is review from Physiology, Anatomy, and Biochemistry so far. It seems like it would be a pretty basic test for physical therapy students.

I'm still a bit surprised that some DPT programs require that you take the CSCS during school. It still takes a long time to study for it (unless you are really well educated in the field or have photographic memory), as the textbook is 600 pages, and PT school is already hard enough as it is.

I'm for it. I havent met a "bad" therapist with a CSCS. All who have it are really good with their exercise programming and clinical skills.

Yeah I'm all for it too...I just think it's a better idea to study for it on your own instead of during PT school...but NYU is a solid program so I probly don't know what I'm talking about haha
