Question about MARYLAND application!

Hey all,

If anyone could answer this for me, it'd be awesome. I've been looking at the Maryland website, and I can't tell if the secondary application is only for those invited to an interview or simply any applicant who passes the screening. Does anyone know?

check the AADSAS website.

I think TS means supplemental application, which is required to send when the school contacts you.

i think applicants will only recieve a supp app if they are asked to interview

they will contact you about the applications. I think they will mail out the secondaries to you.

Yea they're website kind of makes it sound like only those invited for an interview will get a secondary, but I guess none of us are sure. Can anyone that applied there clarify?

well, i'm a member of the 2011 class so you'd think I'd know about a secondary but for the life of me I don't remember ever filling one out. that might be b/c i didn't really interview, i went to the special recruiting session or maybe the secondary application is a new thing this year to help them sift through the big pile of apps

since aadsas says to wait til the admissions officer contacts you about it, just relax and don't worry about it

From what I remember, I believe they give you a password to access the secondary application online if you are invited for an interview.

They only require u to fill the secondary if you get the interview. It is just another dupplicate of ADDSAS app. The recruitment party thing is only for applicants who they really want to have in their class(some of the applicants have good credentials but not all.)

Maryland holds two "special recruitment sessions" for those applicants with flawless credentials...... it seems that those students did not have to fill out a secondary. I believe one session is in November and the other is in December.

Yep, this is all true... except the applicants invited to the special recruitment sessions also had to fill out the secondaries.

It's basically everything that takes place during interview day minus the actual interview (i.e. tour the school, listen to little speeches about the school, financial aid, and so on).

As for "flawless credentials," I have no clue...

man it must feel good to get a notice that pretty much says "hey you're in! come check out the school!"

if you want to get an idea of what kinda stats these applicants had go to predents.com, select 2007 Entering Class from the top, and then select Maryland from the drop down box of schools. The two special recruitment sessions were on November 15th and December 4th this past cycle... you can scroll over the applicants and see what the stats were for those that interviewed on these dates. Most had a 23+ DAT and 3.75+ GPA 😱
