Question about POST-BACC... those that know, please help.

Okay, I did search but that stupid tool is so inefficient.

Just some back ground,
GPA: 3.01, SCI: 2.98
after i graduate i should break 3.0 in science and general gpa should also go up.
DAT AA/TS/PAT: 22/23/16

applied to NYU, BU, TEMPLE, UMDNJ, U-HOUSTON
UMDNJ interviewed but got rejected
Heard from no one else..

CONSIDERING DOING POST-BACHELORS COURSES WHEN I MOVE TO TEXAS.

My question is..

I will recieve my bachelors in May and I will be moving from Jersey to Texas. How will I go about taking post-bacc. courses so that they will count toward my gpa? What do I enroll as? Will any courses taken after graduation count into my general gpa? Or do I have to enroll in a "program"?

I was hoping to just take courses instead of enrolling in a post-bacc program, as I will be working with the courses.

Say, for example, U. of Houston. Would I apply as a transfer student? A "non-degree seeking" student or what? Do I just sign up for courses?

if anyone can be of assistance, i'd appreciate it.

I originally graduated with an engineering degree in 97. I went back as a non-degree seeking student and took all of the pre-req's except for gen chem I and physics I. Then I also took MicroBio and Genetics to boost my GPA. The only problem with non-degree seeking status is that I wasn't allowed to register until a week before classes started. That and as a non-degree seeking student I was ineligible for financial aid. I went to a local state school and just paid for everything as I went. An organized program probably looks better, but for what I needed non-degree worked fine. I'll be at Nova in the fall.

i did the same thing. i graduated with a non-science degree and took all my pre-reqs and was able to maintain a 4.0. luckily for me, umdnj only really care about the sci gpa and bcp. boost your sci gpa and you should be good to go for next year. 👍

I have a question. How will doing postbacc work next year help my (your) gpa for the 2007 cycle? Does this mean I (we) may have to apply a third time? Since 4.0 gpa won't show up until Xmas time, and this will be considered "late." 😕

You're right in that any classes you take this summer and fall won't affect you GPA when you first apply for the 2007 cycle, assuming you apply early. You are allowed an academic update in december and then your GPA will change. Mine went from 3.15 to 3.22 because of the three A's I got last fall. So basically it won't help your GPA for early interviews but it can help for second and third round interviews.

Do schools offer Post-Bac courses or do you just retake the same courses at the same university even if you have already graduated. How does that work?

And also, say that I took spring and summer courses to boost grades; I would be extremely late for the 2007 cycle. Do I wait basically 2 years for the 2008 cycle?

i actually have the same question about how long it takes. if i enter a postbacc this fall 06, can i enter d-school fall 07? or do i wait a year in between and start dschool fall 08?? i'm really confused here... 😕

i have the same question also... i dont want to wait two years to get accepter to a d-school- is there something else anyone could reccomend for us who are DYING to get into d-school for 2007??

im not sure how many times i answered this.. maybe i didn't say it clearly enough..

i am currently in a post bac i started in june 2005. retook the DAT in august 2005, i then applied thru aadsas in sept 2005. took classes during fall 2005, sent in academic update in jan 2006. interviewed and accepted for fall 2006.

so u do not have to wait an extra year. yeah, the adcom will not see your new grades until december or january, but hey, it worked for me.
