Does anyone know how strict schools are about additional prereqs like microbiology or anatomy? I have all the major prereqs such as biology, chemistry, etc. down, but my school didn't even offer microbiology and anatomy. I vaguely remember reading somewhere on the forum that some schools overlook the more minor prereqs. Is it true? Or do I have to take it at another university before entering dental school? 😱

To play things safe, always assume that schools will be more strict about having prerequisites completed; I have not heard about schools waiving prerequisites, but schools will probably overlook the 'highly recommended' or 'recommended' courses, since these are not technically required courses. Definitely contact the schools regarding this question. However, on the up side for most schools, you will have until the summer to complete these prereqs before you matriculate in the fall. Also, most schools don't usually have micrbio or biochem prereqs so you so this gives you some flexibility depending on where you choose to attend.
