I can never get this straight and I tried looking this up in a google search but could not really find anything. I know one is italicized and the other is not.
When you talk about genes within E. coli, such as DnaB, would the gene itself be italicized (i.e. The DnaB gene codes for helicase)? How about gene products (i.e. The DnaB gene product, helicase, unwinds DNA)? One of them is italicized/lowercase, whereas the other is not italicized/uppercase.
