Hi all,

Unfortunately I have a bit of a dilemna. I actually deferred my admission from AUA for a yeear in hopes to apply to a d.o school this year and of course hopefully gain admission. I already payed them my security deposit of 500 dollars. My current gpa is a 2.9cum and 2.7 sci but, I am ccurrently registered to retake all the classes (mostly science) I didnt do well in this coming semester. When I mark the classes I already took as retakes, the GPA given to me changes to about a 3.2 and 3.1 respectively, which I assume the system gets from dropping those bad grades from my gpa calculation because i will soon be in the process of re taking them (17 hrs) of grade replacement. The new school is listed on my app as incomplete with all the classes pending. I haven t submitted my app yet so my qxn is

1. Will schools see this new gpa even before my new grades are sent to them around December? Im sure after December my GPA will even increase since I transferred to a much easier institution..hopefully to a 3.3. But do any of you know if aacomas will check my transcripts but leave this new gpa(3.2/3.1) for schools to evaluate until december so i dont get cutoff rejections and such?

2. I know most of you will advise me to wait a year but what if I dont get in next cycle?

My mcat score is around a 25. Pleeennty of medical experience with leadership. Actually this is mostly the reason for my lower gpa. Too many extracaricullars.

Please any help will bw appreciated. I am a minority/disadvantaged

What do you guys suggest I do. Thanks soo Much

I would retake those classes and retake your MCAT as well. It looks like you are good on EC's, so take a year and focus heavily on academics. Even with a 3.3, I think your MCAT needs to be in the higher twenties.

+1

the schools can be updated with your new GPA, but that will be pretty late in the game to say you have a good chance.

You have no chance really with current GPA

Hate to break the bad news to you, but your "improved" gpa that you're seeing right now will return to your original...so yeah, you will probably get screened with 2.xx. Your only option is to "ace" the MCAT and update the schools as soon as possible once you get your fall grades.
