So I've received and finished some of my secondaries. However, one of my professors is being unresponsive so I'm waiting on her letter before my app can be complete for most schools.

I was just wondering if anyone knows whether the submission of a secondary BEFORE letters are in affects the app in any way. For example, Commonwealth sent their secondary out on June 24th but my letter may not come in until mid July. Therefore I was just going to submit near the mid of July but it would appear that I took almost 5 weeks to complete the essays. Does it make a difference when I submit my secondaries so long as they are in before I get my letter? I just don't want to come off as a slacker or uninterested but I kind of like to hold onto things to double check over and over until I have to submit.

Thanks!

Okay thanks a lot for your response! I was a little worried because a few of my secondaries came out the same day that my AMCAS was verified (June 24) so I felt rushed to finish them even though my letters weren't it. Thanks for making things more clear!

It will not matter. The thought that a medical school adcom may see the date a secondary is sent and when it is returned may somehow be interpreted that the applicant is less interested in the school than other institutions is mostly a myth. In my experience, most adcoms never even know or look at such dates. Additionally, the LORs are out of your control and would not impact that date. Indeed, many committee letters do not arrive until September.

Most schools that have dates for secondaries and the general view of a 2 week turn around time is done mostly to keep the work flow of thousands of applications moving thru the review process. When a school gets several thousand applications that need to be reduced to several hundred interviews, you want to keep things moving, like getting back secondaries in an even flow.

If that's the case, can II's be sent out before schools receive committee letters or no?
