Question about SLOR: Does it have to be from a program that has an EM residency?

I'm doing a Transitional Year at a community hospital that has no Emergency Medicine residency program. I will, however, rotate through EM there. Can I get a SLOR from this experience? Or does it have to be from a PD of an Emergency Medicine residency program? If so, this may be a pretty crappy roadblock. Thanks. (I'm an IMG btw.)

OK I searched a bit more and it seems the answer is "yes, you can get it from the community hospital without an EM residency program, but it's not ideal."

Is my understanding correct?

I'm only an MS4, so take my opinion for what it's worth. But I think in your case, you have to go with the community SLOR and do the best you can with that, because you don't have the option to get an academic SLOR. Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

i was wondering how you got into that transitional? is it during the match or after the match? i'm an IMG too and i'm only applying to EM so i wanted to come up with a game plan in case i don't match
